I sit ensconced in Kath's flat having just watched a hailstorm at 2pm on Tuesday a'noon. Canadian summer hey?
Laurel and I woke up today at a cool 9am. Kath had started work at her cafe at 7am! We walked down the 18th fairway of the Mountainside course (one of 2 golf courses belonging to the Fairmont Springs Resort) and then along to course's access road to the "main" st and Kath's coffee shop.

Faitmont Hot Springs actually has about a dozen shops , not the rustic setting Kath told us to expect. But their little shop gets very busy so I took out the rubbish and Laurel washed the dishes and cleaned down the benches. It was wonderful just to be there and to help was a bonus. We also met the 1/3 owner, the woman who actually hired Kath sight unseen from Oz.
Laurel and I had a wander around the other shops too and I bought a book that the Canadians call a "bathroom book" on the history of British Columbia (a funny book, not serious ... well half-serious). It is a bit like reading about all the bad boys of NSW politics pre-2000.
Some photos open this blog (I tried putting them at the end but ...) on Kath and L standing near Lake Windermere, then some Canadian-looking joker and Lorrl, then Kath's flat - downstairs one. Next time there'll be photos of cafe (a couple of photos - you might spot LM on the right working behind the counter) and the hailstorm I saw back ay Kath's flat. Gotta run. Kath and all are off to Invermere! Lots of love blog-readers extraordinarie. Den
